Sexyy Red Fights to Clear Her Name in Tay Keith Royalties Case!

Sexyy Red wants out of the lawsuit Tay Keith filed before his death, telling the court she should not be blamed for royalty payments she says only the record label controls.

The St. Louis rapper requested in a June 6 letter obtained by TMZ, just days before the Grammy-winning producer died. Tay Keith’s suit claims he produced 13 songs for Sexyy Red in 2024 and was not paid. Her label was sued, and she was also named as a defendant.

“I recently learned that I was named as a defendant,” she wrote. “I am appalled and furthermore hurt by the allegations made.”

Sexyy Red told the court the business side was never in her hands. “I am an artist who is not allowed to pay producers. All of this is handled by the record label,” she wrote.

She also made clear that she saw Tay Keith as someone close to her, not an opp. “Tay Keith and I are great working partners and even greater friends,” she wrote. “If the label owes him money, I’m sure they have started the process to get him paid.”

Sexyy Red said she is still waiting on payments from some of the same music, calling it part of the label’s process after money is recouped.

A representative for Tay Keith said naming her was “a legal formality,” adding, “Any allegations are directed at the label, not Red personally,” in the ongoing case.
