R&B artist Monica jumped off the stage to break up an altercation while headlining Detroit’s Riverfront Music Festival, between a man and a woman.
Videos show Monica abruptly stopping her show and addressing a man in the crowd who she said she saw hit a woman.
But was the man at fault? Here’s the video showing exactly what transpired, which got Monica upset.
She did get back on stage and explained to the audience what was going on. She apologized several times and said it was a triggering moment for her. Monica did continue the show.
Monica later apologized to fans, saying, “I apologized there and I’m apologizing here for my actions but no one would take action! I was so triggered, I watched and she didn’t appear to even know him! It appeared to be about space during a packed concert! He punched her with all his strength! My intentions were to prevent her from being hit again and she wasn’t! I asked for help, it fell on deaf ears! It was like seeing my mother or an aunt be assaulted!! This woman was 50+ I pray she’s ok!”
