Ryan Garcia claims he has secured a professional boxing match against undefeated legend Floyd Mayweather, setting up a potential showdown that could put Mayweather’s perfect record in jeopardy.
Garcia, 28, shared the surprising news on social media, revealing that the proposed fight would take place at 147 pounds for the WBC welterweight championship.
“Trust me at first I thought this was bull–t,” Garcia admitted. “But it’s real Floyd and I agree to a fight.”

The boxer followed up by promoting the potential clash, saying “50-0 vs The current champ,” before posting a screenshot showing himself on a FaceTime call with Mayweather.
Mayweather has not fought professionally since his 2017 victory over UFC star Conor McGregor. Since retiring with a 50-0 record, the boxing icon has continued making occasional exhibition appearances. Garcia, who holds a 26-2 record, would enter the proposed fight as the younger, more active competitor.
Mayweather is also approaching his 50th birthday in February.
Mayweather has not yet publicly addressed Garcia’s announcement. Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, has confirmed that the fight is going ahead.
Eddie Hearn says Floyd Mayweather vs Ryan Garcia is actually happening “I think Floyd beats him… I’m excited to see that. As I understand it, the fight is on.” (via @BoxingNewsED) https://t.co/1KQfpIPDoO
