Taika Waititi, the husband of pop singer Rita Ora revealed in a new interview with Vogue that she proposed to him.
The movie director, who is 47, said, “She proposed to me, and I said ‘yes’ instantly.”
The pair first crossed paths at a barbecue that Waititi hosted at his Los Angeles home in 2018 and they began dating in 2021.
“It’s actually been quite entertaining for us to see the different stories people made up and all the while getting to keep it to ourselves,” said the singer.
“It wasn’t in London or in France like everyone reported,” Waititi told the outlet. “It was in L.A. with a small group of friends.”
“At our home!” Ora added.
“There were about eight people there — just close friends and family, and parents on Zoom,” Waititi told the publication, “It was really us and my sister Elena.”
Ora added, “I wore my mum’s pearls that she got married in. My sister walked me down the aisle, and it was just really simple and blissful and calm and private and fun.”
The couple recently celebrated their one-year anniversary.
