The family of late rapper Rich Homie Quan has released a statement following the star’s tragic death earlier this month.
“On Thursday, September 5, 2024 the Lamar family lost our beloved son, brother, father and friend. Known to the world as Rich Homie Quan, Dequantes Devontay Lamar was a proud native of the great city of Atlanta, Georgia and represented for the A as he and his music traveled across this globe. While he leaves us with an undeniable hole in our hearts, we are comforted by knowing his music and triumphant spirit lives on,” the statement reads.
A newly released incident report by the Atlanta police revealed that Quan, real name Dequantes Devontay Lamar, died at his home on September 5th at 33 years old.
Quan’s brother shared that earlier that night, he found the rapper asleep on the kitchen floor with food in his mouth. He then moved his brother onto the couch.
Quan’s girlfriend, Amber Williams, woke up and discovered that he was not in the bedroom. She found him asleep on the sofa and left the home to take her son to school. She then took a nap and went to the sofa to check on him and found that his body was lifeless and cold. She then called 911.
The family statement continued, “Quan’s legacy will forever be cemented as a soundtrack to our lives. And for this, we are grateful. Celebration of life details will be shared soon. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support at this difficult time.”
