Mary Cosby is mourning the loss of her son.
Robert Cosby Jr., the only child of Mary Cosby, died Monday in Utah at age 23. Police confirmed officers responded to a call about a possible overdose and found Robert deceased at the scene. Authorities say the medical examiner is investigating the cause of death, and the case remains open.
Cosby addressed the heartbreaking news in a statement shared on Instagram two days later.
“Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord,” she wrote. “Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and knowing he is finally at peace.” She added, “We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”
Bravo also shared its condolences. “Mary is a cherished member of our family,” the network said in a statement. “Our thoughts, love and deepest condolences are with her and her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Robert’s struggles were previously documented on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, where Cosby spoke openly about his battle with addiction. Earlier this year, he was released from jail following a legal case involving his estranged wife, with his attorney saying he was focused on therapy and moving forward.
