Heather Gay is heartbroken that Whitney Rose decided to divorce her husband, Justin Rose, after 16 years of marriage.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City personality, 52, learned about her cousin’s filing during a live interview with SiriusXM’s Reality Checked on Wednesday and couldn’t hide her surprise.
“I thought that they were just separating and working on it,” Heather told host Kiki Monique. “It’s sad to me.”
“I love Justin. I love their family. I know how hard divorce is and this sucks,” she continued.
Later that evening, Heather addressed the news again on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, revealing that she had already contacted Whitney.
“I’ve texted with Whitney,” she shared, adding that she was “rooting for her.”
Court documents confirm that Whitney, 39, filed for divorce from Justin, 58, in Utah. The former couple share daughter Bobbie, 16, and son Brooks, 13, and Whitney submitted a proposed parenting plan.
Heather separated from her husband, Billy Gay III, in 2011 before finalizing their split three years later, but revealed that she deliberately kept the process private.
“I did that to protect how difficult it was,” she explained.
Whitney previously said she and Justin were “nesting,” rotating between homes to provide stability for their children.
