‘RHOSLC’ Star Mary Cosby’s Son Robert Pleads Guilty To Assault & Trespassing

Salt Lake City housewife Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Cosby Jr., has admitted to a series of criminal charges in Utah, doing so just one day after his wife filed to end their marriage.

According to documents, the 23-year-old appeared in Salt Lake County District Court on Nov. 25 and entered guilty pleas connected to a string of confrontations involving his wife, Alexiana Arian Smokoff, and her father, Shad Stoke.

Prosecutors said the incidents occurred over several weeks in the fall.

Robert Jr. had originally been charged with 14 offenses. He pleaded guilty to eight, including a felony count for causing more than $5,000 in property damage. He also acknowledged violating a protective order twice, assaulting a peace officer, violating a jail release order, trespassing with the intent to cause fear or harm, and committing misdemeanor assault. Six remaining charges were dismissed.

Alexiana, 21, filed her divorce petition on Nov. 24. The filing instructs both parties not to “harass, intimidate or disturb the peace” of one another and outlines additional restrictions, including prohibitions against domestic violence, identity misuse, and interference with essential services.

Robert’s attorney, Clayton Simms, told PEOPLE that his client struggled to accept the end of the relationship.

“Understanding and recognizing the relationship was difficult for Robert based on his religion and background. To him, marriage is sacred and forever,” he said. Simms added that Robert “was slow to recognize and accept his marriage was over and continued to connect with his soon to be ex wife” but has “accepted responsibility for his mistakes.”

Robert Jr., who has appeared alongside his mother on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, has been in custody since Nov. 9. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 3.
