Robert Cosby Jr., the 21-year-old son of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby, was arrested Saturday night outside Salt Lake City following an alleged domestic violence incident.
Authorities say Robert attempted to break into the home of his father-in-law by crawling through a pet door. After gaining entry, cops allege he assaulted an unidentified victim inside the residence. When officers arrived on the scene, Robert reportedly refused to cooperate. He ultimately gave himself up but was taken into custody.
Robert now faces six counts related to the incident, including failure to stop at the command of law enforcement, criminal trespassing, assault, and three separate violations of court orders. The names of the alleged victims have not been released to the public.
Robert Jr.’s struggles with substance abuse have been documented on the Bravo show.
“Just as a parent, you can feel like you failed, and there’s nothing that nobody can do,” she said in a confessional. “I don’t have help, I don’t have a mom, I don’t have a grandma, I don’t have nobody I can call and say, ‘Help me. My son is going through this. Help me. What can I do?’”
Mary continued: “But it’s my responsibility to make sure if he comes to me and if he says he wants help, it’s my responsibility to make sure he gets it. And whatever I have to do to do it, I’m gonna do it.”
Robert Cosby Jr. is the only child of Mary Cosby, 52, and Robert Cosby Sr., 74, who was previously married to Mary’s grandmother.
