‘RHOP’s Wendy Osefo Claims She Resigned from Wesleyan University Amid Felony Fraud Charges

Real Housewives of Potomac star Dr. Wendy Osefo has responded to reports that she was dropped as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Wesleyan University, saying instead that she left of her own accord.

“Contrary to recent media reports, Dr. Wendy Osefo was not terminated from a faculty position at Wesleyan University. She formally submitted her letter of resignation prior to any public announcement made by the university,” her rep’s statement to PEOPLE reads.

“Dr. Osefo made the voluntary decision to step down from her role. This decision was made independently and communicated directly to the university before any external reports surfaced,” the statement concludes.

Wendy Osefo joined the university in fall 2024. This semester, she was teaching a class titled “The Sociology of TV: Race, Colorism, and Xenophobia.” She was in class the day prior to her arrest.

Wendy and her husband, Eddie Osefo, are facing more than a dozen counts, including multiple felonies, following a burglary at their Maryland home while they were on vacation back in 2024 that law enforcement now says did not happen.

The couple filed claims with three different insurance companies for items and damages they alleged were upwards of $450,000.

Since her arrest, Wendy’s appearance on the Housewives spinoff, “Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition,” which was scheduled to air last week, has been scrapped.
