Karen Huger was taken into custody on Wednesday after being sentenced to serve time in jail over her most recent DUI.
According to sources, before she left the courtroom, Karen’s last words were to her longtime husband, Ray Huger.
“As Karen was being taken into custody she yelled, ‘Love you Ray. GOD’s got you. You’ll be alright. GOD bless you,'” Taria Faison, the host of What Else is Going On Podcast, shared via X, formerly Twitter.
The Grande Dame of Potomac crashed her white Maserati into multiple street signs and a tree last spring. She was found guilty of DUI, negligent driving, failure to control speed to avoid a collision and failure to notify of address change.
Karen was found not guilty of a reckless driving charge.
Taria was live tweeting during the sentencing and shared some more insight into how the Huger family is feeling.
“Ray said the kids are a little hurt by this. Her Lawyer asked if Ray was aware of everything that Karen has done in the last few months (to get help). He said yes. He told the judge Karen is doing very well and has recovered from the accident. And Karen is crying,” Taria wrote.
Karen issued an apology in court, finally taking accountability for her actions.
“Drinking responsibly, especially while taking medications, mean(s) not drinking at all,” she said. “I failed at that miserably. I understand how lucky I am that I hit a tree. Thank god I did not hit a pedestrian.”
