Ashley Darby says Karen Huger is entering a very different chapter following her release from prison.
While appearing on Housewives Nightcap, the Real Housewives of Potomac star shared that she has been in limited contact with Huger, mostly through text, but noticed a shift when they reunited briefly at BravoCon.
“It was really weird, like this hug was like girl, just so familiar,” Ashley said. “Karen and I, we go at it. We will go at it. That’s just the fun of who we are. But there’s just this fiber that unites us, she and I.”
Ashley explained that while Huger has always been guarded on camera, she now appears more open. “She says that she wants to talk about her addiction,” Ashley noted, calling it “a very big step” for someone who has not always been so forthcoming.
Reflecting on a past moment they shared, Ashley recalled how difficult it once was to access that softer side.
“Karen and I did the salt cave together a few seasons ago and her armor was so thick. It was impenetrable,” she said. “You could not get her to be emotional or vulnerable.”
Now, Ashley believes fans and friends may finally see a new version of Huger. “I feel like now we’re getting the more vulnerable side of Karen,” she said. “Which is just going to be nice for all of us, including her friends and the fans.”
