Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Judge has been facing a lot of backlash for her behavior on the show. Now, she is facing backlash after claiming her behavior is because she is neurodivergent.
The reality star says she almost checked herself into a mental health facility until a therapist informed her that she was on the spectrum.
“In my conversations with my therapist, who I’ve known for years, we talked about a lot over the course of two hours. And she told me that many of the things about me — like how I process information, my sensory issues, my social anxiety, my aversion to eye contact with new people, my not wanting to be out of my routine, etc. — were all signs of being on the spectrum,” she said on her Two Ts In A Pod podcast. “Now, ‘On the spectrum’ it’s such a broad term. I don’t really understand it fully, and my therapist told me more evaluation was needed.”
Tamra appears to be referring to Autism Spectrum Disorder. People with ASD may have difficulty communicating and interacting with others and may have restricted interests or repetitive behaviors.
After Tamra revealed the diagnosis, RHOC fans slammed her, accusing her of using the diagnosis as an excuse for her terrible antics on the show.
The reality star says she is not in a space where she can be judged or “hated” on and wants critics to back off.
