Shannon Storms Beador was involved in a shocking DUI last year and says that she was shocked to see a selfie she had taken of herself shortly after the crash, showing her injured, bloody face.
“That was really traumatic for me,” she told PEOPLE of the photo. “As you can see, I was injured pretty badly and when I looked at it, it almost felt like I was looking at someone who wasn’t me.”
“I didn’t want to see myself that way, and I didn’t want anyone else to see me that way either,” she says. “I honestly thought I’d never show it to anyone.”
In October, Shannon was charged by the Orange County District Attorney with one count of driving under the influence of alcohol and a second count of driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level more than .08%.
The following month, Shannon was sentenced to three years probation following her recent DUI hit and run. She will also have to do 40 hours of community service.
Shannon agreed to an offer from a judge allowing her to plead no contest to a pair of misdemeanor DUI charges in return for the dismissal of a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge.
