Kyle Richards is weighing in on Dorit Kemsley’s ongoing drama with estranged husband Paul “PK” Kemsley and why she felt compelled to defend him, even as it put a strain on her friendship with Dorit.
After Thursday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kyle explained that her reaction was shaped by her long history with PK and by what she felt Dorit had previously said about him publicly.
“Dorit wants to hear, ‘What an a–hole. You poor thing,’” Kyle said on the RHOBH After Show. “But of course I’m obviously going to have a different reaction from knowing someone.”
Looking back on the season, Kyle recalled PK being hurt by Dorit repeatedly calling him an alcoholic.
“Yes, he’s fine with you saying he’s sober and not drinking now,” she clarified. “But he wasn’t fine with you saying he’s an alcoholic repeatedly.”
Kyle also said Dorit’s comments about PK as a father struck a nerve. “As a parent, I’m just thinking, if someone said that about me, my claws are coming out,” she explained, adding that she did not think those discussions belonged on television.
When Kyle confirmed that, from her perspective, PK was a good parent, others admitted it was difficult to watch. Dorit, however, felt Kyle was prioritizing PK over their friendship. “I want to feel it,” Dorit said. “But then I’m not getting the actions that are matching.”
