Amanda Frances is opening up about her rocky start on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and her castmates reactions to her career.

In a new interview with Decider, the RHOBH newcomer admitted she was surprised by the tension. “I naively thought it wouldn’t be hard to make friends,” she said.

Frances also addressed a moment that caught viewers’ attention when she told the group she didn’t recognize actress Jennifer Tilly.

“I didn’t know and I said that to Jennifer, and Jennifer wasn’t fazed by it,” she explained. “She’s one of my favorite people, but I just didn’t place her.”

Things became more emotional when Dorit Kemsley confronted her during a dinner that fell on the anniversary of Frances’ son’s passing.

“My heart started beating really fast and I thought, ‘I can’t do this right now,’” she recalled. “I had to tell her twice what the day was, and it didn’t feel respected.”

Frances said she was also stunned by castmates questioning her career.

“I have a 15 year career of creating and selling digital courses,” she said. “There are hundreds of comments from people saying, ‘This course changed my life.’ The fact that we can’t handle a woman being successful is wild.”

She added that comments from Bozoma Saint John felt especially confusing after supportive conversations off-camera. “You said ‘Amen’ when I gave your friend advice,” Frances said. “So what changed?”
