Tom Girardi, the ex-husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne, has been found guilty of defrauding his vulnerable clients of millions of dollars in settlement funds.
The 85-year-old has been convicted of four counts of wire fraud for redirecting at least $15 million away from four of his clients. He was Tom accused of stealing from his clients to fund his and his wife’s lavish lifestyle, including Erika Jayne’s music career…which she denies.
“Tom Girardi built celebrity status and lured in victims by falsely portraying himself as a ‘Champion of Justice.’ In reality, he was a Robin-Hood-in-reverse, stealing from the needy to support of a lavish, Hollywood lifestyle. Today’s verdict shows that the game is up – we can all now see this defendant for what he was and the victims he callously betrayed,” he wrote.
According to The Los Angeles Times, Girardi rubbed his forehead. He declined to comment.
He will be sentenced later this year.
