Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams sat down for her first interview since her publicized divorce from Simon Guobadia, who was deported back to Nigeria earlier this month.
Porsha and Simon began dating back in 2021 and became quickly engaged just weeks later. Their relationship appeared to be a happy one until Simon’s immigration issue and past fraud convictions surfaced online… and Porsha immediately filed for divorce.

“We had a real serious conversation because, being a supportive wife, I wanted to deal with this head-on,” Porsha told PEOPLE. “I got it spelled out completely by an attorney who had been in immigration for 30 years. And my conclusion was: ‘I don’t want you to travel.’ I begged for him not to leave the country. That was not honored.”
She said they had a major fallout on Valentine’s Day, which signaled the end of their marriage.
“There was some paperwork that needed to be handled, and I wanted to bring in some attorneys to represent me, and that was frowned upon,” she continued. “And it wasn’t really what he said, it was a look—a look that just felt dark. I just knew I was not looking at the same person I loved before. I could tell that he was just pretty much checked out of the relationship at that point.”
Porsha has spoken very little about her drama with Simon on the current season of the show as the court case was still ongoing, but she says that at one point, she even considered a relationship with a woman.
“When you go through a bad enough breakup, you’re like, ‘I don’t like nobody,'” she added. “I was sitting there like, ‘Do I like women enough? Can I get with a woman? Who can come in and fill this void?’ I have got to be able to sit with someone and feel a part of what I felt with him.”
