‘RHOA’ Alum Peter Thomas Out of Federal Custody

Peter Thomas is no longer behind bars after serving his federal prison sentence in a tax case.

The former Real Housewives of Atlanta personality, who was previously married to Cynthia Bailey, has been released from custody after serving time related to a payroll tax scheme.

Prosecutors accused Thomas of failing to pay over $2.5 million in employment taxes. He later accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to 18 months.

This week, Thomas appeared to confirm the update himself. In a video shared to Instagram, he smiled while listening to music through wired headphones.

Records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons indicate Thomas is no longer housed at the Federal Correctional Institution in Miami. He is now under community confinement supervision through the Miami Residential Reentry Management Office, a status that can include placement in a halfway house or home confinement.

Thomas is expected to remain under supervision until August 2026, followed by two years of supervised release.

As part of his conditions, he is prohibited from excessive alcohol use and narcotics. He is also still responsible for repaying the $2.5 million.
