Reggaeton artist Anuel AA attended a recent rally for Donald Trump where he endorsed the Republican candidate.
“I’m from Puerto Rico,” Anuel told the crowd after Trump boasted about having the “Puerto Rican vote.” “We’ve been going through a lot as a country. Biden always promised, promised. A lot of politicians promised through the years.”
Anuel added that Trump is “the best president the world has seen, this country has ever seen,” and called on his fellow Puerto Ricans to get behind the former president.
“I personally spoke with him, he wants to help Puerto Rico grow and succeed as a country. He wants to keep helping Latinos in the U.S. Let’s keep doing things the right way and let’s make America great again,” he added.
Fans say Trump has not always supported the island.
In 2021, a probe was launched into allegations that Trump obstructed an investigation looking into why officials withheld approximately $20 billion in hurricane relief for Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria in 2017.
Puerto Rico has still not fully recovered.
