Ray J’s first fight did not turn out the way he planned, but he hasn’t given up just yet.

The singer and reality star returned to Instagram after being knocked out by Supa Hot Fire at Adin Ross’ Brand Risk 14 event in Las Vegas, telling followers that he is training again and preparing for another match in August.

“I had a perfect record 0-0-0- I took a L! Period!!” Ray J wrote. “Now I’m 0-1-0 – I’m training harder and I’m more focused!! JUST Signed the contract for the next fight August 23rd! THE BACK TO SCHOOL BRAWL.”

Ray J said the upcoming event will place him at the top of the card.

“I’m the headliner and I’m fighting at 215lbs for the light heavyweight title. And I got 3 months to train!!” he added.

The post followed a messy week for Ray J, whose May 23 matchup with Supa Hot Fire ended less than a minute into the second round. Supa Hot Fire, who kept his distance through much of the first round, connected with shots that knocked Ray J down and ended the fight. Ray J later spoke about the loss in a video, saying the moment was painful but not final.

“Every fighter has been through crazy s–t,” he said. “At least, I have 5 to 10 more fights for me with the biggest fighters.”

He also tried to turn the defeat into motivation.

“This was just a stepping stone in my fighting career,” he said.

After the fight, Ray J confronted Supa Hot Fire, saying that the knockout would cost them money, claiming the two had a plan, alluding to the fight being fixed. Ross later said his team planned to investigate what happened in the cage and whether there had been any agreement before the fight.

Two days later, Ray J checked himself into a hospital as doctors examined him for a possible concussion and an abnormal heart rate.
