Rapper YNW Melly, who is accused of killing two of his childhood friends in 2018, has had six new charges filed against him/
Melly and several others are now facing charges of directing the activities of a criminal gang, two charges of soliciting to commit tampering, conspiracy to create tampering and two charges of unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
Prosecutors says the new crimes happened between April 10 and July 22 during the first trial and that Melly solicited Cortlen Henry and Terrence Mathis to engage in conduct to cause a witness.
Prosecutors allege that Melly, allegedly a member of the Bloods street gang, did it through phone calls made by other jail inmates at his request and letters passed between them to get messages to Blood members on the streets.
According to an arrest warrant issued earlier this month, he “along with others,” engaged in “misleading conduct toward another person with the intent to cause or induce (that person) to withhold testimony” during Melly’s first trial, which ended in a mistrial.
