Rapper Slowthai has pleaded not guilty to two charges of raping a woman in 2021.
According to the victim, the rapper forced her to perform oral sex and raped her. A second male, Alex Blake-Walker, pleaded not guilty to one charge of sexually assaulting the same woman. The trial is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 1, 2024. Blake-Walker is also accused raping and sexually assaulting another person. He has denied the allegations.
“I am innocent and I am confident my name will be cleared,” Slowthai said. “Until then I will apply my energy to ensure this is concluded swiftly and justly. I ask that my supporters don’t comment about this situation and respect the process and privacy of my family during this time.”
The rapper rose to fame in 2016 when he dropped his debut album, “Nothing Great About Britain,” in 2019, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. His song, “My High” featuring Disclosure and Aminé, was nominated for the Grammy for best dance recording back in 2020.
