A man named Michael Lanell Terry has been sentenced to 32 years for the killing of Compton rapper, Slim 400.

The West Coast rapper was fatally shot in Los Angeles back in December 2021 in Inglewood, California. These are the first arrests to come following the killing. Terry pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter on July 15.

“Our hearts go out to the families of Mr. Cohran, an artist in the Los Angeles community who was taken far too soon by a tragic act of gun violence,” District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement. “Our Community Violence Reduction Unit vigorously prosecutes gun violence to protect our communities. Gun violence has no place in our society, and we will continue to work closely with communities we serve to help prevent these senseless crimes.”

Terry also has a prior felony strike. As he confessed to using a firearm, this carries a special sentencing enhancement.

Slim 400, an affiliate of West Coast rapper YG, was known for features on YG songs such as “Word Is Bond” and “Twist My Fingaz.” His most recent album, BompTTon, was released just months before his murder.
