R. Kelly claims he is contesting a judgment from August last year connected to alleged threats that led to a canceled screening of the docuseries Surviving R. Kelly.

Kelly is accused of ordering the bomb threat which shut down the screening, to canceled six women who all claimed they were victims of the disgraced singer. Kelly failed to show up or respond to the lawsuit, which resulted in a $10.5 million judgment against him.

He says he had no idea about the existence of the lawsuit and that he would have fought it if he had…but he had too many legals fights going on.

Kelly claims he “cannot read or understand words beyond that of a grade schooler” and that he is reliant on his attorneys to translate all legal matters to him.

“I would not have been able to understand the lawsuit or distinguish it from the many other legal documents that I received. It all looks the same to me,” he wrote. “I rely on my lawyers to explain things to me because I cannot read or understand words beyond that of a grade-schooler.”
