R. Kelly has reportedly been placed on suicide watch after he was sentenced to 30 years in prison last week.
And according to one of the singer’s biggest fan – he’ll he dead by weeks end. The head of R Kelly’s social media fan base is claiming that R Kelly fears for his life – and that he suspects that prison officials want to kill him.
And the disgraced singer’s attorney Jennifer Bonjean agrees. She told CNN that Kelly was scared.
“The irony of putting someone on suicide watch when they’re not suicidal is it actually causes more harm,” Bonjean said. Kelly’s team has filed a motion for a temporary restraining order.
Kelly has sued the prison.
“It’s punishment for being high-profile. And it’s horrifying frankly,” she said. “To put someone under suicide watch under those conditions is cruel and unusual when they don’t need it.”
“MDC-Brooklyn has a policy of punishing high profile inmates by placing them under the harsh conditions of suicide watch even though they are not suicidal,” the lawsuit alleges.
Prosecutors had asked the judge to sentence him to more than 25 years in prison. Kelly’s crimes against minors spanned decades.
Kelly’s attorneys were seeking the minimum of 10 years and claimed that he should receive a lighter sentence because he was sexually abused as a child.
