In his interview with DJ Akademiks, Philly rapper Poundside Pop explained why he turned down a record deal from Meek Mill.
He says Meek offered him $20,000 for the albums and all of his publishing. Ak mentioned Lil Pump, who once signed a deal for $30,000, but that the deal did not include his publishing.
Fans weighed in, bringing up the fact that Meek has been online blasting major records labels after getting screwed out of his coins. Meek claims he made the record labels multiple millions but barely saw any of it himself.
In 2020, Poundside claimed the rapper tried to sign him to Dreamchasers for just $10,000.
“You know, you gotta come correct when you trying to sign somebody,” Pop told DJ Vlad. “That ain’t work out right, basically.”
He continued, “When the deal come, it’s for $10,000. A $10,000 deal, I’m like, ‘What the f-ck?’ F-ck I’m supposed to do with this? I’m out in L.A. I told him, ‘this ain’t enough. I’m f-ckin’ with you but I ain’t feelin’ this jawn.’ He sent another one back for $20,000. I said, ‘Nah, I can’t do nothing with $20K, either. After taxes, it’s damn near $10,000.’”
