Pop singer Aaron Carter passed away on Saturday. He was 34.
According to reports, Carter was discovered in his bathtub by his housekeeper at around 11 a.m. on Saturday. Neighbors heard her screaming, “he’s dead, he’s dead.” Investigators say there is no evidence of foul play.
“It is with great regret that I confirm Aaron Carter was found unresponsive this morning in his home in Palmdale, California,” a rep told The Sun. “The family has been notified and will be flying out to Los Angeles. Aaron worked very hard towards the end of his life in recovery, to be a good father and to make amends with his family. Unfortunately, without proper recovery facilities available in our country and open borders, this is why we have an epidemic.”
Carter struggled with addiction for years and recently lost custody of his child.
“Aaron never really dealt with a lot of trauma he had,” an insider told People. “He was really torn up when Leslie [his sister] died, but it was Bob’s death that really threw him.”
The source continued, “He had such a dysfunctional relationship with both parents, but something about losing his dad really threw him. That’s when I saw him really start to spiral. He had gotten in trouble before, but he went from a partier to something a lot more dark then. It was like he gave up.”
