Pooh Shiesty may have to remain behind his cell door 23 hours a day after federal prosecutors rejected his request for more freedom while he awaits trial.
The Memphis rapper, born Lontrell Williams Jr., is being held at Rolling Plains Regional Jail in Texas, where his attorney says the isolation is taking a toll.
But prosecutors insist the restrictions are justified, citing security concerns and the rapper’s past conduct, according to legal documents Complex reviewed.
Their filing alleges that Shiesty interfered with monitoring equipment at a halfway house and cites an incident in which three inmates reportedly tried to reach him for an autograph.
Prosecutors also cited his recent admission to using fentanyl.
Despite complaints about isolation, the government argues Shiesty can communicate with others through a jail-issued tablet.

According to the filing, he has completed 231 video calls totaling more than 45 hours and can access email, games, and streaming entertainment.
His lawyer, Kent Schaffer, spoke to Complex about his famous client.
“I was surprised,” Schaffer told the outlet about the allegations, adding that officials should examine their jail operations if the claims are true. Schaffer previously argued that limited human contact “can wear anyone down physically, mentally, and emotionally.”
Shiesty has not been convicted in the pending case involving the alleged robbery and kidnapping of Gucci Mane.
His trial is scheduled for February 2027.
