Polo Ralph Lauren Reportedly Told Trick Daddy “Don’t Mention Us”

Trick Daddy rarely gets his heart broken, but the Floridian rapper recently opened up about the time Ralph Lauren managed to do just that.

In a recent interview, the Miami rapper recalled how frequently he referenced the brand in his music, including a standout lyric about his love for Polo, which he believed helped boost the brand’s visibility in the South.

“I had one of my A&Rs as well as one of my publicists reach out to Polo because I had been saying Polo on the record,” he said, explaining that he wanted access to exclusive pieces. Polo Ralph Lauren

According to Trick Daddy, the request was simple. “I wasn’t trying to get a deal,” he said. “I just wanted a catalog.”

Instead, he says the response caught him off guard.

“They told me, ‘No, thank you. We’d appreciate it if you won’t even mention our name again in your songs,’” he recalled. “So I wrote another and said: ‘I used to be a Polo kid,’” he said.

Trick Daddy says his love for the brand ended there and then.

“I started wearing Iceberg… It was over for me with Polo,” he explained, adding that he still occasionally buys pieces, later adding, “They broke my heart,” he said.
