Perez Hilton’s Family Speaks Out Following Mental Health Emergency

Perez Hilton’s loved ones are asking for privacy as he remains under medical care following a mental health emergency at his Miami residence.

“We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family’s focus right now is on his well-being,” Hilton’s family and team said in a statement Wednesday. They thanked supporters for the “overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers” and said additional information would be released when they were able to share it.

Authorities were called to Hilton’s home Tuesday evening after viewers became alarmed by a TikTok livestream.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said deputies received several reports involving someone who appeared to be harming himself online. Officers arrived at the residence, spoke with Hilton’s relatives and determined that he was inside alone.

Deputies temporarily withdrew while continuing to observe the situation and communicate with those at the scene. The department said slowing down a response can help officers de-escalate a mental health crisis and limit the risk of injuries.

Hilton was eventually found safe and taken by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a nearby hospital for treatment. Members of the sheriff’s Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental health professionals also offered resources to his family.

A source told Fox News Digital that Hilton was placed under Florida’s Baker Act, which allows certain people in crisis to be taken for an involuntary psychiatric evaluation.

“He’s alive,” the source said.

Hilton, 48, lives in Miami with his mother and his three young children. The blogger, whose legal name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., also endured a lengthy hospitalization for severe sepsis earlier this year.
