The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority has banned the wearing of ski masks and in their statement, they referenced rapper Pooh Shiesty.
The ban comes after a man was shot in the chest in Germantown, Penn. by an assailant was wearing a hoodie and a ski mask.
“Those face masks are prohibited on SEPTA property,” SEPTA Transit Police Chief Charles Lawson said. “If you come on SEPTA property wearing your shiesty, you will be engaged by police. So I want you to think about it.”
“Masks are an issue. I’m going to be completely honest with you,” he added. “These full-head coverings are a major issue because we are seeing it routinely being worn in 80-degree weather in Philadelphia. There is no legitimate reason, pandemic withstanding, to wear a full head covering in public for anything.”
Pooh Shiesty, real name, Lontrell Donell Williams Jr.,is known for wearing the ski masks. He was sentenced to 63 months in prison after pleading guilty to a single firearms conspiracy charge. Back in 2021 he was indicted on four counts related to an October 2020 shooting at the Landon Hotel in Bay Harbor Islands, Fla.
