Former NBA guard Patrick Beverley will not face trial following a Texas grand jury’s decision to dismiss a felony assault case connected to his arrest last fall.
A Fort Bend County grand jury returned a no-bill on Monday, concluding there was insufficient evidence to move forward in a case that stemmed from a November incident at a home in Rosharon, Texas. Authorities had described the situation at the time as a family-related matter.
Beverley’s attorneys welcomed the outcome in a statement, saying, “Patrick wants everyone to know that he would never do anything to harm his sister and that he is very grateful that the grand jury has recognized that with their no-bill.”
They added that he hopes “his name and reputation will be restored.”
Beverley, 37, last played in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024 and spent more than a decade in the league with teams including the Houston Rockets and LA Clippers.
After his arrest, Beverley shared that he had arrived unexpectedly at the home and found his minor sister alone with an 18-year-old man.
“He was understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister,” a statement he posted at the time read, while disputing how events were later described.
Following the grand jury decision, Beverley addressed supporters directly.
“This ordeal has truly made our family stronger,” he wrote. “Thank you for your continued support and prayers.”
