Media Take Out Staff |

New York rapper Lil Tjay is currently in intensive care recovering from gunshot wounds. Now Media Take Out has confirmed that police have arrested a man whom they believe was the gunman who shot the rapper.

The rapper’s alleged shooter – 27-year-old Mohamed Konate – has been arrested as of Friday (July 22) and is currently being held at Rikers Island.

And by the looks of his face – he was beat pretty bad while taken into custody.

Police believe that Lil Tjay’s shooting was an attempted robbery of Lil Tjay. The 21-year-old was with two friends, Antoine Boyd (22), and Jeffrey Valdez (24) at the time, and all three of the young men were seated in a Dodge Durango near the Bronx’s Promenade shopping centre.

The New York native reportedly resisted Konate’s attempt to rob him, causing the suspect to allegedly fire shots that struck him in the thoracic cavity, whose function is to hold the rib cage, heart, lungs, esophagus, and other vital organs.

On top of the injuries sustained by Tjay, one of his friends was also shot once, and Konate was wounded as the struggle ensued.

Lil Tjay is a rapper and singer. He rose to prominence in 2018 with his song “Resume,” and signed to Columbia Records later that year.

Lil Tjay’s debut studio album, True 2 Myself, was released in 2019. The following year, he released the mixtape State of Emergency that features only drill artists from New York City. True 2 Myself debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200, marking the album his first charted release. His second studio album, Destined 2 Win, was released in 2021 and included the single “Calling My Phone”, a collaboration with singer 6lack, his highest-charting song yet
