Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been accused by his former partner of domestic abuse.
Rice’s ex-girlfriend, Dacoda Nichole, posted photos showing visible bruising and damage inside a home, alongside a lengthy caption describing a long pattern of mistreatment. She did not identify Rice by name in the post.
“I’m so tired of keeping quiet. I’m so tired of protecting his image,” Nichole wrote. “I’ve been through too much in a span of eight years and I’ve had enough.”
Nichole, who shares two young sons with Rice, alleged incidents of physical violence, controlling behavior and intimidation both during and after their breakup. She claimed he broke into her home, destroyed personal belongings and failed to maintain consistent contact with their children. “I’ve protected his image too long and I’m done doing that,” she wrote. “It’s time to protect my peace, protect my children and stand up for myself.”
The allegations surface during an already difficult period for Rice, who served a six-game suspension this season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy following a high-speed crash in Texas last year.
The Chiefs acknowledged the situation on Wednesday, saying they are in contact with the league.
“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League,” the team said in a statement. “We have no further comment at this time.”
