NeNe Leakes is still toying with the idea of a potential return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but she says that if she does return, it’s unlikely that it will be as a “friend of” the show.
“If I were to ever step back on that platform, would I be friend? I really kind of feel like I don’t know that I would be a friend. I just would think, NeNe, season 1, the first Housewife, and I’m a friend? I don’t know,” NeNe said on Cynthia Bailey and Crystal Kung Minkoff’s “Humble Brag” podcast.
NeNe was one of the original cast members of the show and quickly became a fan favorite with viewers. After joining in 2008, she remained a full-time Housewife before returning as a “friend of the show” for the eighth season. NeNe then left before the start of season nine and returned as a full-time Housewife for seasons 10 through 12.
After leaving, NeNe filed a lawsuit against Andy Cohen and Bravo, alleging racial discrimination. She later decided to drop her lawsuit.
Over recent weeks, NeNe has made her desire to return to the show apparent, but Bravo has not publicly expressed any intentions of bringing her back to the show.
