Kyrie Irving is the latest Black celebrity to get called out for making allegedly antisemitic remarks on social media. Media Take Out has confirmed that Kyrie posted a link to a movie, which is being shown on Amazon.
And that movie has been criticized for allegedly repeating anti-Jewish rhetoric.
The movie is called Hebrews To Negroes: Wake Up Black People. On its face, the Tweet seems pretty innocuous. Here’s the description of the movie:
The Movie “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America” uncovers the true identity of the Children of Israel by proving the true ethnicity of Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the Sons of Ham, Shem & Japheth. Find out what Islam, Judaism and Christianity has covered up for centuries in regards to the true biblical identity of the so-called “Negro” in this movie packed with tons of research.
Many jewish people are upset with the information being pushed in the movie – which suggests that White people who observe the Jewish faith are somehow “fake,” and that the “real” Jewish people are Black.
The owner of the Brooklyn Nets was forced to call out Kyrie for the post. Look at what billionaire Joe Tsai wrote:
Kyrie is about to be in the midst of a super-sized sh*t storm … hopefully he won’t lose his career over it.
Kyrie is a professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was named the Rookie of the Year after being selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. A seven-time All-Star and three-time member of the All-NBA Team, he won an NBA championship with the Cavaliers in 2016.
Irving played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils before joining the Cavaliers in 2011. He won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the 2014 All-Star Game. In the 2016 NBA Finals, Irving made the championship-winning three-point field goal to complete the Cavaliers’ historic comeback over the Golden State Warriors. After another Finals appearance in 2017, Irving requested a trade and was dealt to the Boston Celtics. He played as a Celtic for two seasons, after which he signed with the Brooklyn Nets as a free agent in 2019. He has also played for the United States national team, with which he won gold at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics. In February 2020, he was elected vice-president of the National Basketball Players Association, replacing Pau Gasol.
