NASCAR driver Daniel Dye is facing consequences after a recent livestream sparked backlash online.
Dye, who competes in the Truck Series for Kaulig Racing, has been suspended following a video that circulated on social media. In the clip, Dye appeared to mock IndyCar driver David Malukas, including comments that many viewers found offensive.
Both NASCAR and Kaulig Racing confirmed disciplinary action, with the organization also requiring Dye to complete sensitivity training.
Shortly after the video gained attention, Dye issued a public apology addressing the situation.
“I chose my words poorly, and I understand why it upset people,” he wrote. “I’m sorry to anyone who was offended. That’s not how I want to represent myself.”

The driver also spoke about conversations with people close to him. “I have friends in the LGBTQ+ community, and I never want them to feel disrespected because of something I said,” he shared. “I need to hold myself to a higher standard.”
Earlier in his racing journey, he faced a suspension while competing in the ARCA series following an off-track incident. He later returned after the charge tied to that case was reduced.
Dye recently joined Kaulig Racing for the current season and has competed in several events so far. NASCAR has not announced how long the suspension will last as the situation continues to be reviewed.
