Nappy Roots rapper Fish Scales is recovering in hospital after he was shot and kidnapped earlier this week.
Fish Scales, real name, Melvin Adams, was closing the local brewery he co-owns when he was approached by two men and robbed at gunpoint. Scales was there with another man, but the unidentified male fled the scene.
The rapper was forced into a vehicle and drove them to his home in Hapeville. He managed to escape and fled to a neighbor’s home, but was shot in the leg.
“Luckily, none of our dedicated patrons of Atlantucky were at the scene or harmed during the robbery. We are so thankful our brother is safe and on the road to recovery. We would appreciate some privacy as we are trusting the Atlanta Police Dept in the ongoing investigation. Scales also mentioned he is looking forward to getting back to work both on music and brewery. Love and Keep it Nappy,” the group said in a statement via Instagram.
Fish Scales is said to be in a stable condition.
