Last week, MSNBC host Tiffany Cross, one of the only Black women anchors on the network, was summarily fired – just hours before she was set to go on air with her weekend show, as Media Take Out reported.
News of Tiffany’s firing shocked MSNBC viewers, and caused many to wonder – what did she do, other than call out racism on Live TV?
Well now MSNBC seems to be putting out its rebuttal against Tiffany. Media Take Out learned that a new report, published by the NY POST (which is owned by the same parent company as Fox News) is shedding some light on what happened.
The Post claims to have spoken to people inside MSNBC and they are accusing Tiffany of misusing company funds.
The article says Tiffany was fired, “partly over her habit of making ‘vulgar’ comments and ‘name calling’ on air, but The Post has learned that she also had been under fire for racking up as much as $100,000 in expenses for five-star hotel stays.”
Here’s more:
During her two-year tenure at MSNBC, the host took trips to Los Angeles and the Super Bowl, portraying them as work trips, sources said. Cross’ Oscars trip, in which she stayed at the Beverly Wilshire on Rodeo Drive for an “extended stay,” raised eyebrows, according to a source.
“She’s staying at a hotel NBC’s execs don’t stay at,” the source said of the Four Seasons-owned hotel, which charges more than $1,000 a night for a basic room during high season.
“She mistook working in television news for being a celebrity,” the source added. “She was making north of $200,000 and she acted like she made $5 million.”
Media Take Out learned that Tiffany is consulting with lawyers, and may be planning legal action against MSNBC.
