Major League Baseball has suspended Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer for two full seasons over allegations of sexual assault.

Bauer was accused of sexual assault by a San Diego woman. The woman also requested a restraining order and accused him of taking rough sex too far during two encounters last year. The woman was not granted a restraining order and no criminal charges have been filed against him.

The suspension is the longest in the seven-year history of the league’s domestic violence and sexual assault policy.

Bauer is appealing the decision.

“In the strongest possible terms, I deny committing any violation of the league’s domestic violence and sexual assault policy,” Bauer’s statement read. “I am appealing this action and expect to prevail. As we have throughout this process, my representatives and I respect the confidentiality of the proceedings.”

“In accordance with the terms of the Policy, the Commissioner’s Office will not issue any further statements at this point in time,” the league’s statement read.
