Master P is questioning whether Mystikal received the medical care he needed following his military service, speaking out after the rapper was sentenced to 20 years behind bars for rape.
“I don’t think he never got the right medicine he need,” Master P said during a recent interview on the “We in Miami” podcast.
Mystikal, born Michael Lawrence Tyler, was sentenced June 16 after pleading guilty to third-degree rape stemming from a violent 2022 encounter at his Louisiana home.
The woman who reported the assault told authorities she had been punched, choked, and sexually assaulted. She accused the rapper of pulling out her braids and later requested the maximum prison sentence.
Master P did not directly challenge the conviction but said he was concerned about people struggling without medical support.
“When you look at mental health, man, a lot of people afraid to say they dealing with this,” he said, adding that seeking help can be “frowned upon” in the Black community.
The rapper also warned about substance use, saying, “Drugs is killing our culture, killing our people.”
Master P believes access to counseling and proper medical care could make a difference.
“I feel like we could save more lives,” he said.
Mystikal previously pleaded guilty to sexual battery and extortion in 2003 and served prison time.
