Media Take Out is hearing that Marvel Studios is preparing to replace Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror. During an appearance on The Hot Mic podcast, Marvel Insider Jeff Sneider shared that the actor could be replaced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following his assault allegations.
As Media Take Out reported, on March 26, Jonathan Majors was arrested in New York City for allegedly beating up an unnamed 30-year-old White woman.
While Jonathan has maintained his innocence, that isn’t enough for Marvel. During the podcast, Sneider explained that Marvel Studios and Jonathan’s team have discussed the issue and laid out potential options.
Jonathan Majors appeared as Kang the Conqueror in the season finale of Loki Season 1 on Disney+ and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He was expected to be a major part of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga.
Kang, Jonathan’s character, was set to appear in both Loki Season 2 and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
But Jeff Sneider claims that Jonathan is being replaced – and they already have alternates ready on deck – including Damson Idris of FX crime drama, Snowfall.
“Even though there hasn’t been any movement on the Jonathan Majors front, I’ve heard that’s the kind of actor, who, like, if Jonathan Majors got the boot as Kang, someone like Damson Idris is the type of the person that [Marvel] may look at to replace him if that, in fact, happens,” said Sneider.
