Marques Houston hopped on social media to clear up his comments about single mothers being “red flags,” and saying he’d never date a woman with kids because she has too much baggage.
“I humbly apologize for the comments I have made, and to those I have offended. I have a deep respect for all women of any age, race, or background and my comments made in a recent interview was taken out of context,” he said.
“I work with many independent women every single day, and have ultimate respect for them and what they are able to accomplish in this world and my choice of words, or how they were taken, does not reflect how I view them. So again, I would like to apologize, and will use this experience to both better myself and the men I’m an example to.”
Speaking to Page Six days ago, he said: “There’s a lot of women my age I’ve dated, they may have baggage. A red flag to me [was] always with a woman that had a kid. Nothing against single women, but single mothers with children are a red flag for me. I tip my hat and respect women that are raising children on their own,” Houston added. “But when I grew up, I never really wanted to have kids.”
Social media torched him.
