Crime has besieged the city of Atlanta – where car break-ins and home invasions are now the norm. Media Take Out learned that Marlo Hampton from the Real Housewives of Atlanta was recently hit with a home invasion.
Luckily Marlo wasn’t in the home alone – her nephews were there.
Marlo shared her story with the local TV news, Media Take Out learned. And it sounds like she went through a pretty horrifying experience.
Atlanta police say that four suspected gang members are now in custody in connection to at least 15 home invasions over the past year.
One of those home invasions, according tp police, happened on July 1st and was the home of Marlo Hampton of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta”. Marlo told Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne that she watched on her security system as armed, masked men kicked her door down making a loud boom.
Marlo explained, “When I heard the boom, when I heard my nephew scream — and I knew that scream was a scream of fear — my heart dropped.”
Marlo Hampton said she went to a “panic room” which she set up in her Buckhead mansion, and called 911.
The home invaders hot scared and fled, after they heard Marlo yell.
“I just thank God and we’re covered in the blood of Jesus and I’m here to share this story with you. But my main concern is, I want all the ladies … I want everyone to be aware if you are posting, if you do have luxury items, be careful,” Marlo said.
The correlation between an Atlanta zip code and safety is not as strong as it used to be.
Atlanta Police Chief Rodney Bryant said his officers are being called to more luxury residences where home invasions have broken out.
