Man Admits To Killing Rapper Pop Smoke

An 18-year-old admitted in juvenile court that he fatally sho rapper Pop Smoke in 2020. At the time, the teen was just 15. He will now will serve time in a state juvenile facility until he turns 25 because he cannot be tried as an adult.

He also admitted to the home-invasion robbery count.

The judge told young man and a 19-year-old co-defendant to “make better choices” and that they could end up on state prison or a graveyard if they continued on the same path. The 19-year-old and a third young man admitted one count each of voluntary manslaughter and home invasion robbery.

Four men in total men were charged in Pop Smoke’s murder – two juvenile defendants, 15 and 17 at the time of the homicide, and Corey Walker, who was 19.

In WE tv’s new series Hip Hop Homicides, Van Lathan interviewed Amelia Rose, the women who was with Pop Smoke when he was killed in a violent home invasion.

“Pop said he was going to upstairs,” she said. “I’m sitting on the bed and I’m starting to take off my clothes, and he said, ‘OK, I’ll come back.’ He was going to the restroom and so this was his last words.”

“This moment, it was like a couple seconds and I hear the noise. The guy was in the mask and his gun was like looking at me, you know? His eyes made me so scared. They run to the restroom, Pop screamed, ‘What?'”
