While accepting the award for the Favorite Rock Artist at this weekend’s AMAs, Machine Gun Kelly issued a message to his haters.

“There have been some people in the rock community who called me a tourist, but they’re wrong,” he said. “I’m a rocket man. We weren’t born on the moon but we looked at it and we were curious and then were went there, supposedly, and these two rock albums were me going to the moon.”

Kelly won the award for the second year in a row.

In January, Slipknot member Corey Taylor went off at Machine Gun Kelly again at the 2022 ShipRocked Festival cruise.

“For those of you that don’t know, MGK doesn’t like me very much. And let me follow that up by saying I don’t care,” Taylor told the crowd.
“This genre really doesn’t get the f-cking respect that it deserves,” Taylor said. “[MGK] don’t get to walk in as some weird substitute teacher and pretend that you can tell us what to wear—boots, shoes, house f-cking shoes, slippers. Why don’t you suck every inch of my d-ck? You don’t get to do that. And these are bands that maybe I don’t even f-cking know, but guess what? I f-cking respect them because they get on f-cking stage and they f-cking give every f-cking thing they’ve got.”
