Luann de Lesseps isn’t sugarcoating her reaction to the backlash that followed Jill Zarin’s recent Super Bowl comments. Asked about the controversy that ultimately led to Jill’s exit from E!’s upcoming series The Golden Life, Luann called the moment disappointing and avoidable.

“My reaction was tone deaf,” she told PEDESTRIAN. “I’ve known Jill for a long time, so I was surprised by the whole thing. It’s unfortunate.”

The remarks came after Jill faced widespread criticism for comments she made about the Super Bowl halftime show, which many viewers felt crossed a line. While Luann acknowledged the disappointment, she was clear that the group is moving forward.

“The show must go on,” she said. “And it will. It will be fabulous.”

Despite the rocky headlines, Luann is thrilled to be back on screen. She described getting the call to join the series as deeply affirming. “It felt like finally somebody wants me,” she said with a laugh. “I feel so blessed.”

Luann also shared excitement about reuniting with familiar faces, including Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer, and Kelly Bensimon, and she was especially enthusiastic about Dorinda Medley joining the cast.

“She’s an integral part of the group,” Luann said. “I’m so happy she’s coming along for the ride.”
