AD Smith says her ex-fiance Clay Gravesande promised that he would not embarrass her on the show.
Clay refused to marry AD on Love Is Blind’s sixth season, but she says they had several talks about not saying “I do” before the decision day arrived.
“Clay and I had so many conversations about not moving forward,” AD said on Nick Viall’s podcast.
“I know it looks like I’m blindly following him off a cliff and he’s telling me, ‘I don’t want to marry you,’ and I’m like, ‘Okay, let’s go get married.’ And he’s like, ‘No I don’t want to. I’m like, ‘Yeah,'” the real estate agent said. “There were so many conversations where I was like, ‘I’m good to walk away. I’m good. I’m good to walk away.’”
Viewers says Clay repeatedly tell AD that he was not ready to walk down the aisle.
“He would actually try and do things differently and show up for me in certain ways, and then he would hit me with a sprinkle like, ‘I’m just afraid to get married.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, again, we do not have to do this. I’m okay. I would rather not be humiliated in front of all of my family and friends,’” she continued. “And he’d be like, ‘AD, I’m not going to embarrass you. I’m not going to humiliate you.’ And I said, ‘Okay.’”
Sadly, Clay did not keep his word and waited until the altar to turn her down.
