Connor Murphy, the controversial American fitness influencer known for his bodybuilding videos and “looksmaxxing” content, died in an apparent drowning in Thailand on July 7.
He was 32.
According to the Bangkok Post and Thairath, police in Thailand’s Samut Prakan province were called to a luxury rental property Tuesday afternoon after reports that a man was “acting erratically.”
When officers arrived, Murphy reportedly ran toward a nearby lake, jumped into the water, and swam for several minutes. Local outlets reported that he appeared to become exhausted before disappearing beneath the surface.
Rescue divers later recovered his body about 20 meters from shore, police told the publications. Authorities reportedly found no visible signs of assault and ordered an autopsy to determine his cause of death.
Investigators also discovered two unused syringes and several white pills inside a bag in Murphy’s vehicle, according to the reports. Officials have not publicly said whether those items played any role in his death.
Murphy had reportedly rented the property for three months with his 22-year-old girlfriend. Police found black and yellow paint throughout parts of the home, which his girlfriend said had been applied overnight while she slept. She reportedly told authorities his behavior was unusual and had not occurred before.
Murphy built an audience of more than 2.7 million followers across YouTube and Instagram.
